The Purple Rose is one of America’s most celebrated regional theatres.  It is the creative home of world-class actors, directors, playwrights, designers, and technicians.  It is a training ground for talented young people.  Perhaps most importantly — as Jeff Daniels promised when he founded the theatre — new plays developed at the Rose provide “a voice from the heartland” that enriches the American theatrical landscape.

If you want to make a gift to the Rose and take advantage of a 2009 tax deduction, please keep the following deadlines in mind.

To be eligible for a 2009 federal tax deduction, gifts must be made by the following 2009 year-end deadlines.

• Gifts Made by Check Gifts made by check that are received at the Purple Rose or postmarked by Thursday, December 31 are considered 2009 donations.
• Credit Card Gifts Credit card gifts may be made until 4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 31, 2009. This deadline applies to credit card gifts that are received by telephone, made in person at the theatre, or mailed in. Please remember, if you are making a credit card gift by mail, it must be delivered to the Purple Rose by 4:00 p.m. on December 31. The IRS has ruled that credit card contributions are deductible only in the year the bank processes the transaction.
• On-line Gifts Thursday, December 31, 2009, is the last day to make a 2009 gift on-line.
• Gifts of Securities Gifts of securities must be received at the Purple Rose before 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2009.
